Random Stone and Narrow Cavities Solutions
Properties with narrow cavities or random stone structure cannot usually be insulated with traditional insulation systems. Cavity wall insulation requires a minimum of 50mm cavity to allow the insulant to fill the wall properly. Random stone walls have varying cavity widths, which also makes them unsuitable for most cavity fill products, and these properties are usually not suitable for External Wall Insulation due to restrictions on changing the façade of the building. These types of properties are classed as ‘Hard to Treat’ as they are difficult to insulate.
Dysons offer a foam cavity insulant which is suitable for many of these Hard to Treat homes, including those with random stone walls. This insulant is recommended in areas of high exposure and flood plains, and is particularly suitable for properties which may have previously been insulated with mineral fibre which has since deteriorated after flooding. We are able to remove the existing insulation and re-fill with our foam product. This has the added advantage of strengthening the walls which may have degradation of the wall ties after flooding.
There are many advantages of insulating your ‘Hard to Treat’ home with our specialist insulation system:
- The insulation acts like a tea cosy, wrapping the building in a thermal layer and keeping your home much warmer in winter, and cooler in summer
- Helps to reduce condensation
- Heating bills can be reduced by up to 35%
- Maintenance free
We would need to carry out an extensive borescope survey of your property to establish that it is suitable for our insulation, and to confirm that there are no technical faults with the property.
