Technitherm® PU Foam Insulation
Narrow cavities and random stone
Properties with narrow cavities or random stone structure cannot usually be insulated with traditional insulation systems. Mineral fibre and polybead cavity wall insulation require a minimum of 50mm cavity to allow the insulant to fill the wall properly. Random stone walls have varying cavity widths, which also makes them unsuitable for most cavity fill products, and many of these properties are subject to planning restrictions preventing changes to the external façade of the building. These types of properties are classed as ‘Hard to Treat’ as they are difficult to insulate. Dysons offer Technitherm® PU foam insulation which is suitable for many of these Hard to Treat homes, including those with random stone walls.
Flood plains, severe exposure
Technitherm® is recommended in areas of high exposure and flood plains, as it is suitable for severe weather areas and is completely resistant to driving rain. It is a closed cell foam insulant, which protects wall ties from water, seals gaps, and reduces water penetration.
We work on many contracts where properties which have previously been insulated with mineral fibre have been flooded, causing damage to the insulation. The mineral fibre is removed from the walls using our specialist processes, and then re-filled with insulation. Technitherm® offers a permanent solution to this problem, cancelling the need for repeated cavity clearing and re-filling, in the event of future floods. Technitherm® has the added advantage of strengthening the walls which may have degradation of the wall ties after flooding.
Cavity wall structural problems
From single houses to high rise blocks, Technitherm® can be used to stabilise cavity walls, avoiding the need to replace failing or corroded wall ties. It is a structural adhesive that bonds the inner and outer walls together, making the wall stronger than the original. It is particularly suitable for high rise blocks and properties in areas of severe exposure, as it makes the property 3 times stronger in the face of gale force winds.
Duratherm® Spray Foam Roof Insulation
We also offer a spray foam insulation for roofs, which can be used on the underside of sloping roofs and vertical areas.Duratherm® stabilises and weatherproofs tiled or slated roofs by fixing down tiles, slates, battens and nails. It protects the roof from driving rain and wind, whilst allowing moisture vapour to pass through. For houses suffering from nail fatigue, Duratherm® offers a cheaper solution than re-roofing, whilst offering optimum insulation benefits at the same time.
